Ag Club hosts showmanship contest

Twenty-two youths from ages three through 18 participated in the third annual Round Robin Showmanship Contest hosted by the agriculture program at Chadron State College recently.

In conjunction with the competition, eight Chadron State students were involved in a judging contest. Layne Sievers of Randolph won the livestock portion and Myra Hipke of Stuart won the plant identification contest.

Following are the showmanship results by division:

Pee Wee Division

Beef and overall champion—Alaina Riesen, Chadron; sheep—Nathan Watson, Whitney; horse—Devin Beaver, Crawford; rabbit—Peyton Beaver, Crawford; swine—Brooke Howard, Whitney.

Junior Division

Beef, rabbit and overall champion—Lakin Beaver, Crawford; swine and horse—Crystal Schuhmacher, Chadron; sheep—Tanner Lembke, Hemingford.

Senior Division

Rabbit, swine and overall champion—Cody Wells, Gordon; sheep—Stephen McGannon, Whitney; beef—Cassidy Emerson, Crawford; horse—Taya Lembka, Hemingford.
