Four comedies at CSC this weekend

Four short comedies written by David Ives, who is well-known for his ability to put unexpected twists and turns into his work, will be presented this weekend in the Black Box Theater of Memorial Hall at Chadron State College by faculty and students in the CSC Theater Department.

 The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-20 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21. Advance tickets may be obtained through the Memorial Hall Box Office, which is open from 2 to 5 p.m. each weekday. Tickets at the door will be $1 higher.

Time Magazine called Ives “the master of short comedy” and added that he puts play back into the word playwright.,

The summary of the plays follows:

--Time Flies—It revolves around Horace and May, two mayflies who learn that they live only for a day.

--English Made Simple—A lesson in how to overcomplicate something as simple as two young people saying hello.

--Captive Audience—The story of Rob and Laura, whose television tries to take over their lives.

--Babels in Arms—It is set in ancient Egypt, where two stone masons try to build a tower that reaches God.

CSC Theater Director Roger Mays said the plays contain adult language and themes.
