Veteran educator coming to CSC

A native Nebraskan with an array of experiences in education has been hired as an assistant professor of educational administration at Chadron State College beginning this fall.

He is Dr. Jerry Neff, who grew up in North Platte. After serving in the Army, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in 1970. He received both his master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

He began his career as a science and math teacher in Sidney. He also taught at an elementary school in Omaha and was a guidance counselor at a junior high in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and at Lincoln High School.

In the early 1980s, Neff was principal at Ogallala High School four years. He also was the curriculum director for the Missoula County Schools in Montana three years and superintendent of schools at Curtis and Hebron in Nebraska and Julesburg, Colo., for a total of 15 years.

Neff’s wife, Gwanetha, is an Omaha native who has taught foreign languages and music and has a master’s degree in counseling. They have a daughter, Theresa, who is in her final year of physician assistant training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Neff replaces Dr. Patricia Cruzeiro, who accepted a similar position this spring at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
